Local Attorney Charged In Drug Raid On Quiet Sixth Street

March 6, 2023

A raid by federal authorities on a house on Sixth Street in Traverse City on November 3 left neighbors wondering. Now answers have come to light, as William (Dane) Carey, a 34-year-old local attorney, has been charged with three crimes, including distribution and manufacture of methamphetamine, the 20-year felony of computer use to commit a crime, and maintaining a drug house.

Carey had been employed at Kuhn Rogers law firm at the time, but took a leave of absence immediately following the raid, and left the firm in January. The firm tells The Ticker, "Mr. Carey is not associated with the firm.” Carey subsequently went to work for his father’s law firm in Roscommon.

The charges and warrant against Carey were filed in 86th District Court.
