Munson Medical Center went into lockdown Monday morning after a Thompsonville man threatened employees. The lockdown was lifted after he was taken into custody, with the Traverse City Police Department noting there was never an active shooter on the hospital campus nor any injuries resulting from the incident.
Police responded to the Munson campus at 6:36am in response to a suspicious complaint. A 23-year-old Thompsonville man made threats of violence towards Munson Medical Center employees, then fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. With the assistance of the Michigan State Police, Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, and Central Dispatch, the suspect was located and taken into custody at approximately 7:50 am. He was lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail on charges of a false report of terroristic threats.
"At no time was there an active shooter, nor were there injuries as a result of this incident," according to the TCPD. "This was an isolated incident, and no threats were made to the general surrounding public."
