By Beth Milligan | Jan. 22, 2019

A 41-year-old Rapid City man is facing multiple charges after crashing into a light pole Sunday in Traverse City.

Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office deputies and Grand Traverse Metro and Northflight personnel responded to the scene of the single-vehicle accident at 2:25pm Sunday. The driver had crashed into a light pole in a parking lot near South Airport Road and Garfield Road. He was taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

An investigation determined the driver was possibly driving under the influence and that he was on parole with a revoked driver's license. Drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, an open alcohol bottle, and ammunition were found in his damaged vehicle.

After being released from the hospital, the driver was arrested and taken to Grand Traverse County Jail on charges including operating while impaired third offense, driving with a suspended license, possession of ammunition by a felon, and parol violation.
