Man Jailed For Assaulting Dog

By Patrick Sullivan | Aug. 14, 2018

Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 19-year-old Benzonia man after witnesses said he punched a dog six times.

Deputies were called to the Kings Court mobile home park in Garfield Township at 3pm Saturday and arrested the suspect on animal cruelty charges.

The man was apparently visiting someone at the park with some friends and his husky, which he is accused of assaulting. Animal control officers also investigated and took custody of the husky and another dog that lived at the park, a pit bull that appeared to be malnourished, says Lt. Chris Barsheff.
