Memorial Day Services Roundup

May 23, 2025

Looking for ways to honor those who fell in service of our country this coming Memorial Day? Below is a roundup of services in the region. Please note that this should not be considered an exhaustive list.

- The Grand Traverse County Memorial Day service will be held on Monday, May 26th at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on 11th Street in Traverse City. It is recommended to bring a chair or blanket as there is no official seating. The service is presented by the Grand Traverse Veterans Coalition and is rain or shine.

- Leelanau County will also hold a ceremony at the same time at the Governmental Center on M-204.

- Glen Arbor Township will hold its famed service at the old township cemetery (6305 Forest Haven Dr) today (Friday) at 10 a.m. The program will include a eulogy for Civil War veteran Ruell Welch, a poem, Taps, and the Glen Lake 8th graders paying homage to the known 51 individuals buried at the cemetery.

- UpNorthLive also has this roundup of other regional events.

- Finally, the Antrim Review has a nice list of events in Antrim and Kalkaska counties.

And while this day is about those who died in service of the country, it's also the unofficial kickoff to summer. See the Northern Express for a list of other fun activities this weekend.
