Now Producing: GT Culinary Oils

Nov. 26, 2013

William Koucky, founder of TC-based Northwest Michigan Biodiesel, a company that produces environmentally-friendly biodiesel fuel from waste vegetable oil, animal fat and food products, has launched a new venture – Grand Traverse Culinary Oils, canola and sunflower oil made from locally-grown seeds.

Koucky worked with area farmers to develop the oil production concept and notes the area is ideal for growing canola and sunflowers. The seeds are non-GMO and the oil is mechanically extruded as opposed to the chemical extraction used to produce many other oils. The oils are available on the company website and will also be available at local specialty shops.
