Old Mission School Deal Finalized

April 27, 2017

Old Mission Peninsula Education Foundation (OMPEF) finalized a deed transfer with Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) Wednesday for Old Mission Peninsula School.

The deal finalized a $1.1 million sale of the property to OMPEF. As part of the terms, TCAPS will continue to provide educational services to the school through June 2018, with official occupancy of the building and property transfer to OMPEF occuring on July 1, 2018. OMPEF members have said the school will reopen in September 2018, though whether that occurs as part of an extended contract with TCAPS or as a new independent charter school remains to be determined.

OMPEF will hold its next community meeting about the school's future on Thursday, May 11 at 6pm at the American Legion Hall at 4001 Swaney Road on Old Mission Peninsula.
