Polselli Responds to Sugar Loaf Violations

March 21, 2014

Rock Investments, LLC owner and purported Sugar Loaf owner Remo Polselli has submitted a response to the Leelanau County Construction Code Authority regarding numerous code violations recently cited at the long-shuttered Leelanau resort.

In a March 13 letter to Code Official Steve Haugen, Polselli writes "as soon as the weather permits, we will be retaining the services of a contractor to go to the property and review the roofing issues...it is our plan to make these corrections immediately once we have finalized an agreement and he has secured the permits." He adds that "regarding the exterior landscaping and upkeep of the property, I am asking (real estate agent) John Peppler to secure for us a local landscaper to begin maintaining the property...(including) the immediate perimeter around the resort building."

Polselli, who recently paid off owed back taxes on the property and says he has resolved title issues with former owner Kathleen "Kate" Wickstrom, tells Haugen it's his hope that "within the next few months" a buyer will be secured for the property. He did not mention entrepreneur Eneliko Sean "Liko" Smith, who has long contended he plans to purchase the resort.

"Mr. Peppler is working with several qualified buyers who are very well aware of the issues at the property," Polselli writes to Haugen. "It is our intent in the interim...(to) do what we can to keep the premises secured."
