Porsches Descend on Traverse City

June 24, 2013

The Porsche Club of America has officially invaded the Grand Traverse region. Club spokesperson Francie Kish tells The Ticker that the club hosts one week-long event each year. Typically the event draws 600-700 cars; the appeal of the area's restaurants, the beaches, and Grand Traverse Resort has helped draw 827 cars. The week's schedule includes a show, a time/speed/distance rally throughout the region, an autocross event at Weurfel Park, a "tech academy" with seminars and classes, and a parade of Porsches on Saturday. Want to watch or enjoy? Saturday is your chance; the 300-car parade will begin at New Hope Church in Acme at 3pm and will continue through downtown and up Old Mission Peninsula.

Says Kish, "We had a parade in Traverse City in 1989 at the same facility [Grand Traverse Resort] and it's very fun to be back and have the area be this popular."
