Ric's Food Center To Close After 35 Years

By Beth Milligan | Oct. 20, 2017

Ric's Food Center is closing its doors at 2048 M-137 in Interlochen after 35 years in business.

Owners Andy Woodrick and Monica Reynolds announced the news Thursday, citing increased grocery competition in the local marketplace. Tom's Food Market opened directly across from Ric's in 2005, and other competitors ranging from Lucky's Market to Costco have entered the region in recent years.

"We are so grateful to all of our customers who have supported us these past 35 years," the owners wrote on Ric's Facebook page. "It has been a pleasure serving the Interlochen community, and we will miss the friends we have made."

Ric's Food Center will host a going-out-of-business sale starting Monday. A specific closing date was not identified, though owners indicated Ric's is likely to remain open the next few weeks.
