Sears' Traverse City Location To Close

June 1, 2018

The Traverse City Sears store inside Cherryland Center at South Airport and Garfield will close in late June. The company has announced it will close 72 or more stores this summer amidst financial troubles.

The closure also signals more uncertainty for the once vibrant mall, with its anchor tenant Younkers going out of business, and its other anchor Kmart closing last year. Owners of the part of the Center where the former Kmart was located have proposed a U-Haul center in its place.
