South Airport Road Closed Near Logan's Landing, Likely Sewer Break

By Beth Milligan | Aug. 25, 2026

South Airport Road has been completely closed to westbound traffic as of Tuesday afternoon between Park Drive and Cass Road near Logan's Landing due to a presumed sewer force main break. One eastbound lane of traffic is open, but the Grand Traverse County Road Commission is asking drivers to avoid the area if possible.

The county Department of Public Works is on the scene with GTCRC and other officials to evaluate the situation. Drivers reported seeing liquid that smelled like sewage bubbling up through the asphalt. An anticipated timeline for repairs and information on whether sewage has impacted the Boardman watershed was not immediately available. The Ticker will continue to share updates as they become available.
