Subject Of "Not Without My Daughter" Visits TC Today

Dec. 12, 2015

The young girl at the center of the international bestseller "Not Without My Daughter," which later was adapted into a 1991 film staring Sally Field, will be in Traverse City today (Sat., Dec. 12) with her brand new memoir, "My Name is Mahtob." She will visit Horizon Books from 3pm to 5pm to sign her books.

Mahtob Mahmoody was six when she and her American mother escaped an abusive and tyrannical Iranian husband and father. In her memoir, she tells the story of that imprisionment and escape, of life after fleeing Tehran, living with fear of re-abduction, attending school under a false name and more.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Mahmoody lives in Michigan and has worked in the mental health field and is an advocate for public awareness of health and welfare initiatives.
