Swim Across The Straits

Sept. 1, 2014

Tens of thousands of people are walking across the Mackinac Bridge today (Monday) in a Labor Day tradition that started in 1958, the year after the Michigan landmark was completed. Next year, those walkers will be joined by swimmers in the 2015 Michigan Mac Swim – the first annual World Open Water Swimming Association sanctioned swim across the Straits of Mackinac on Sept. 7. It will feature 58 swimmers for the 58th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge. Pre-qualification and registration is now open. The event will be a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Michigan affiliates.
