TCAPS Students To Host Lemonade Stands To Raise Money For Schools, Promote Bond

June 21, 2018

Nothing says summer like a lemonade stand.

This Saturday, students of all ages from Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) will host lemonade stands across Traverse City. For these students, the classic summertime tradition is a chance to accomplish two goals: raising money for their schools and spreading awareness about the upcoming TCAPS bond proposal.

The lemonade stands are loosely affiliated with TCAPS Citizens for Students, the advocacy group established by parents, former teachers, and other community members to support a “Yes” vote in the August 7 school bond election. All students have been invited to participate and set up lemonade stands in their neighborhoods. Each lemonade stand will have adult supervision, but will be entirely student-run. The students will also be choosing which school needs to support with their profits, from new books to school supplies.

The coordinated lemonade stands will set up shop from 1-3pm this Saturday in numerous local neighborhoods. Stand locations include Paper Birch Lane in Holiday Hills, East Shore Road at Hidden Ridge Drive, Leorie Drive in Logan Hills, and more. On Saturday, there will be a full list and map of stand locations available here.
