Thunderbirds, Blue Angels Announce Cherry Fest Shows

Dec. 10, 2014

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will return to the National Cherry Festival in 2015 after a 25-year hiatus. The Thunderbirds demonstration team announced plans to perform over West Grand Traverse Bay on July 4 and 5, 2015 during the annual Air Show Convention this week, according to festival officials.

During the same event, festival organizers also learned the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team plans to perform at the NCF Air Show in 2016 on July 2, 3 and 4. This will mark the 13th performance by the Blue Angels in Traverse City.

"It is an honor to have our nation's premier military aviators performing in Traverse City, Michigan on Independence Day," says festival Executive Director Trevor Tkach. " I can't think of a more patriotic way to kickoff both the 2015 and 2016 National Cherry Festivals."

The 2015 National Cherry Festival is scheduled for July 4-11.
