By Beth Milligan | May 18, 2018

Two Michigan men have been charged in separate marijuana-related car accidents that occurred in the Grand Traverse region.

Ronald Michael Davis of Alden has been charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated by marijuana/THC causing serious impairment of a body function. Davis is accused of driving a vehicle that crossed the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle on February 1 on M-72. The crash caused serious injuries in both the driver and passenger of the oncoming vehicle. The driver suffered a fractured sternum and ribs, while the passenger suffered two broken legs.

Gary Ralph Ferrari of Interlochen has been charged with operating with any amount of marijuana/THC causing serious impairment of a bodily function. Ferrari allegedly drove a vehicle on Diamond Park Road on February 14 that hit a bicyclist who was proceeding in the same direction. The cyclist suffered a fractured spine and hip.

In both cases, the accused men are facing a longer potential maximum sentence because of prior felony convictions.
