Two GT County Women Arrested for Meth & Fentanyl

By Beth Milligan | June 6, 2023

A 42-year-old Grawn woman and a 42-year-old Traverse City woman were arrested Sunday for possession of meth and fentanyl in Grand Traverse County.

Michigan State Police troopers witnessed two women dumpster diving at the Women's Resource Center on South Airport Road at 1:20am Sunday. Their vehicle was in the parking lot. The location has posted signs prohibiting loitering in the parking lot, and the Woman’s Resource Center has had issues with dumpster diving in the past, according to MSP.

The women were near the vehicle when troopers began speaking with them. Troopers noticed a loaded syringe in plain view inside the vehicle. One of the women informed the troopers there was also heroin in her purse. Troopers seized the loaded syringe and approximately one gram of heroin/fentanyl from inside the purse. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 1.2 grams of methamphetamine and other meth-related paraphernalia. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine and the other tested positive for fentanyl.

Both women were arrested and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail pending arraignment.
