Vasa Race Cancelled For 2021

By Beth Milligan | Dec. 16, 2020

The 45th Annual North American Vasa race has been cancelled for 2021, the event's board announced Wednesday.

“After working for months to devise ways to make our event as safe as possible, and as we monitored case numbers locally and around the Midwest, our board met this week to discuss our 2021 event,” the board wrote in the announcement. “At the end of the day, the North American Vasa is about community, and we will always put the whole community first. In light of current conditions, expected restrictions, and in the interest of health and safety, we took the unanimous decision to cancel the 45th Annual race.”

The board said it would be reaching out to registered racers “regarding their options” and thanked community members for their patience and support.
