Woman Bound Over For Trial After Long Lake Crash

Feb. 24, 2024

A Lake Ann woman who police said caused a crash that seriously injured two people in Long Lake Township last year has been bound over to 13th Circuit Court for trial.

Abigail Jo-Desy Sierzputowski, 42, faces two felony charges of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and one misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated with an occupant less than 16.

She was bound over to circuit court for trial on Friday after a preliminary examination in 86th District Court in Grand Traverse County. A preliminary examination is held to determine whether there is enough evidence to send a felony case to trial.

The charges are tied to a crash on West Long Lake Road at Fisher Road on Aug. 31. According to charging documents, Sierzputowski pulled out and hit another vehicle that had the right of way.

A woman in the other vehicle broke her clavicle, sternum, wrist and two fingers. Her son, 14, broke his wrist, fractured his pelvis and lacerated his liver, leading to the two felony charges. Authorities issued the misdemeanor charge because Sierzputowski’s daughter, then 13, was in the car with her.

A trial date has not yet been set.
