Your Saturday Cherry Fest Guide (July 9)

It's the last day of the National Cherry Festival! Here are some of the key festivities scheduled for today (Saturday).

Saturday, July 9

> Meijer Festival of Races: The half-marathon goes from 7am to 1pm and starts at Chateau Grand Traverse, with the first 2 miles including a trail run through the vineyard and cherry orchard. 5K Walk/Run, 10K, 15K options also offered. Registration from 6am to 7am at Eastern Elementary School. 
> Sara Hardy Farmers Market & Brunch: Shop local produce and enjoy brunch from area vendors at the Old Town Parking Deck between Lake and Eighth streets from 7:30am to 12pm. The first 100 shoppers will receive a voucher for $5 to spend at the market.
> DTE Energy Foundation Cherry Royale Parade: Enjoy royalty, marching bands, Prince and Princess floats, clowns, specialty entries and more from 11:15am to 1pm. Wheelchair access available on the corner of Sixth and Union streets. The parade will air on UpNorth TV on channel 189.
> Cherry Idol Finals: Cherry Idol finalists returned to the Lay's Cherry Blast Stage to compete for the 2016 Cherry Idol title from 2pm to 3pm.
> Prince and Princess Alumni Ice Cream Social: Open the public from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm, the ice cream social at the Open Space honors those of all ages who are National Cherry Festival Prince and Princess alumni. Featuring ice cream, pictures, and crowns. For alumni, ice cream is free. Cost for adults is $3 and children are $2.
> Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias: Comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias performs family-friendly stand-up on the Bay Side Music Stage from 6pm to 11pm.
Festival Fireworks Finale: It's a fireworks finale in grand style over West Grand Traverse Bay closing out the 2016 National Cherry Festival from 10:30pm to 11:30pm. Fireworks can be viewed along the south end of West Grand Traverse Bay near the Festival Open Space Park, Clinch Park Marina, Bryant and West End beaches.
