Associate TCAPS Superintendent Named

July 2, 2014

Sander Scott, the chief of schools for Traverse City Area Public Schools, has been appointed associate superintendent of schools. Scott will continue to perform the duties of chief of schools – namely, overseeing the day-to-day instructional operations of all elementary and secondary buildings and principal supervision. His new role includes oversight and development of district curriculum, student assessments, professional development and the International Baccalaureate program.

Scott's new position along with Paul Soma's recent appointment as interim superintendent for a year, as well as other changes to cover the responsibilities of the associate superintendent for finance and operations (Soma's former position), will result in a total cost savings of approximately $100,000 for the 2014/15 school year, according to TCAPS officials.
