The body of an Interlochen man missing since early December was found Saturday in the East Creek Reserve in Paradise Township.

Dean Nicholas Barnes, 51, was last seen on December 1. His vehicle was found at the East Creek Reserve trailhead on Mayfield Road in Paradise Township on December 5. An extensive search of the area was conducted by Michigan State Police canine and aviation units, but he was not located. He was believed to be in the possession of a firearm.

Barnes' body was located on Saturday in the East Creek Reserve area by search and rescue volunteer Steven Kieliszewski and his team from Alpena County Search and Rescue. Barnes is believed to have died by suicide. An autopsy will be completed Monday.
