Wheelchair-Friendly ‘Mobi-Mats’ Installed At Two Traverse City Beaches

By Craig Manning | Aug. 25, 2025

A pair of Traverse City beaches are now more accessible to wheelchair users.

The City of Traverse City announced on Sunday that it had installed Mobi-Mats at both the Senior Center Beach and Clinch Park Beach to improve their accessibility. A Mobi-Mat, the city explained in a Facebook post, “is a portable, assistive device that allows wheelchair users access to sandy beaches, dirt trails, or other surfaces that may be challenging for people with limited mobility.”

This particular pair of Mobi-Mats came into the city’s possession “thanks to the generosity of a donor,” the post noted.
