Body Recovered From Spider Lake Identified

Sept. 30, 2016

A body spotted floating in Spider Lake by a boater Wednesday has been identified as that of 68-year-old Kewadin man Richard Thomas Schutt.

Authorities believe Schutt was conducting seasonal maintenance on his boat and was retrieving a buoy when something happened that caused him to fall into the water. Schutt's boat was located near where his body was found by authorities late Thursday afternoon.

According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, no foul play is suspected in the case. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine an official cause of death.
