Cherryland Donates $12,500 To Local Charities

Sept. 26, 2018

Cherryland Cares awarded $12,500 last week to two northwest Michigan area non-profit organizations. These grants will go to feeding children in need at local schools and getting seniors without transportation to and from medical appointments. Receiving grants were The Father Fred Foundation and ShareCare of Leelanau, Inc.

Cherryland Cares has awarded $37,600 in grants in 2018 to area non-profits; it is a charitable fund overseen by a group of five volunteer Cherryland Electric Cooperative members who review grant applications. It is funded by members electing to round up their monthly Cherryland electric bill to the nearest dollar.
