Commission To Review Cherry Festival Tonight

Sept. 22, 2014

Traverse City commissioners will discuss possible changes to the National Cherry Festival (NCF) at a special study session tonight at 7pm at the Governmental Center. The review was originally scheduled to take place two weeks ago, but the commission delayed the discussion over concerns about the meeting length. NCF is the only item on the agenda at tonight's meeting.

Topics of discussion are expected to include the length and timing of the festival, separating the event from the Fourth of July, raising or eliminating the reimbursement of the city's incremental costs for the event, and ceasing exempting NCF and the Traverse City Film Festival from the city's parks policy.
