After receiving significant backlash to a planned move of the Downtown Halloween Walk from Saturday to Thursday this year, the Downtown Traverse City Association (DTCA) is moving the event back to its original Saturday morning schedule.
 
"The initial weekday proposal was intended as a return to an older event format from years past," the DTCA said in a release Friday. "However, community input made it clear that while that schedule served families in the past, a weekend timeframe is better suited for school, work, and family routines today." 

The event will now take place Saturday, October 31 from 10am to 11:30am. The event is structured as a continuous, district-wide strolling event with no single central gathering point. Families can start their trick-or-treating route at any participating business.

On Front Street, the flow will go east-to-west on the north side and west-to-east on the south side. The DTCA is also encouraging attendees to visit businesses on other streets off the main 100 and 200 blocks of Front Street and will post a list of participating merchants prior to the event at DowntownTC.com.
