Garfield Township Man Arrested After Impregnating Teen Daughter

By Beth Milligan | Oct. 9, 2025

A 34-year-old Garfield Township man has been arrested for impregnating his 14-year-old daughter, according to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office received information in May from Michigan Children's Protective Services about a possible sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl who had given birth to a son. A detective trained in crimes against children began investigating the case. A neighbor who had died by the time of the boy's birth was initially identified as a possible suspect in the sexual assault.

However, the detective continued to conduct interviews and collect evidence. Physical evidence collected from the victim's household was processed by the Michigan State Police Forensic Laboratory. The evidence indicated the assault suspect was the biological father of the teenage girl, as he was also the biological father of the victim's son.

Detectives Tuesday located and arrested the man, who lives in Garfield Township. He was taken to Grand Traverse County Jail for first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
