Girls Hockey Standout Signs With Aquinas

May 4, 2016

For the second straight year, the Grand Traverse Hockey Association Girls Hockey program is sending a team member off to play at the collegiate level. Traverse City Northstar defenseman Gabby Fournier signed this week with Aquinas College to play on the Saints women's hockey team.

Fournier, a St. Francis High School senior and captain of the Northstars, helped lead the team to the U19 MAHA State Finals for the second straight year. She maintains a 4.08 grade point average and plans to pursue an athletic training degree.

Traverse City Northstar head coach Michael Pascarelli believes the Saints are going to be very happy to have Fournier join their team.

“Gabby is a great kid, a dedicated student and terrific hockey player," says Northstar Head Coach Michael Pascarelli. "Her toughness on the ice and individual accountability make her a great player to coach. Her dedication to improving her game over the past several years has paid off with this great opportunity. We couldn’t be more proud of her as an organization.”

The Aquinas Saints skated to a 12-12-2 record and finished their inaugural season with a record of 9-5 in the CCWHA conference. The Saints are led by head coach Katie O'Brien.
