Grand Traverse Bay YMCA Child Development Center Opens at Kensington Church

Oct. 3, 2025

After a year-long search for a new home, the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA announced the opening of its Child Development Center at Kensington Church.

“The move to Kensington Church is an exciting step for our Child Development Center,” CEO of the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA CEO Andy Page said in a statement. “We are grateful for the support from both Sojourn and Kensington churches and cannot wait to continue our mission of nurturing young minds in this welcoming environment."

The YMCA Child Development Center offers programs "designed to promote growth, curiosity, and a love of learning for children of all ages." It lost its former home at Soujourn in 2024 when that church terminated its lease, leaving families of about 50 children in the lurch.
