GT Band Partners With William Hill To Offer Mobile, Online Gambling

By Beth Milligan | Jan. 23, 2021

In partnership with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, William Hill US launched an mobile and online sports book and casino app in Michigan Friday. The move allows customers to make a wager on sports and play online casino games anywhere in the state.

According to a release, the sports betting portion of the app offers a “broad and deep array of markets and bet types, including live InPlay wagering. In the casino portion of the app, customers can enjoy Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, and a variety of Slot games. Customers in Michigan can also expect several fun promotions each week.” The app, which can be downloaded on Apple or Android devices, includes a secure registration process and options for depositing and withdrawing funds.

William Hill has a long-term partnership with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians as the exclusive partner for sports books, along with mobile sports betting and iCasino gaming. In September, William Hill and GTB opened The Onyx Sports Book by William Hill at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, along with a satellite location at Leelanau Sands Casino in Northern Michigan.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a statement this week encouraging anyone interested in online gambling to “first read the fine print before signing up” for any apps or programs. “Authorization of these programs is very recent, and I urge anyone who is interested in registering to carefully read and understand the terms and conditions related to the promotional packages being offered so that you are not confused about what might be expected,” Nessel said. “In some instances, site users may be required to spend or deposit a certain amount of money into an account before receiving their free play credits, and users should make themselves aware of such conditions so they are not taken off guard.”

While free play promotional offerings are common practices in standard casinos, the online gambling arena is “new to Michigan and the Attorney General’s office wants consumers to be aware of the details surrounding the advertisements,” according to the statement.
