GT Sheriffs Lose Another K-9

For the second time in five months, the Grand Traverse Sheriff’s office is reporting the passing of a K-9 dog that served the staff. Yogi died due to illness on Monday, May 26. Yogi was a seven-year-old German Shepherd that specialized in narcotics detection, tracking of missing persons, article searches, criminal apprehension and handler protection. Yogi’s handler is Deputy Matt Jerome, a ten-year veteran of the Sheriff’s office. Yogi served the County since November 2008.

Janusz, the office's explosive K-9, died suddenly from illness in January.
