The Sheriff's Office is investigating multiple reported home invasions and thefts in Garfield Township.
According to a release, a 69-year-old Garfield Township woman called 911 Tuesday after someone entered her garage and then opened the interior door to her living room. After she asked if someone was there, the suspect fled. Deputies arrived and pursued a suspect on foot, but could not locate him.
While deputies were still investigating, two additional Garfield Township residents reported home invasions. In one, a resident woke up to a male suspect entering his bedroom. The victim verbally confronted the suspect, who fled the home. The suspect stole the victim's wallet before fleeing.
In another subdivision home, residents reported missing items from both their garage and living room. They reported the suspect had gone through their car in the garage and taken a purse and tablet from the home.
According to the Sheriff's Office, "several 17-year-old males were identified in the area later that day." The investigation remains ongoing, the Sheriff's Office said.
