Homeless Vets Invited to "Stand Down" Event

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is inviting all veterans who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or living in a less than safe or operable house to attend the Veterans Stand Down in Traverse City on Friday, July 17. The meeting will be held at VFW Post 2780 (3400 Veterans Drive) from 10:30am to 2:30pm. There will be several community agencies in attendance to assist with a variety of needs and to inform veterans of care and benefits. There will also be camping gear and cold-weather items available, as well as haircuts, massages, raffle prizes and lunch provided by the Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency.
