By Beth Milligan | May 31, 2023

A 21-year-old Interlochen woman was killed cycling this weekend when she was hit by a car at the intersection of Lake Ann Road and Fewins Road.

Peyton Burch was riding her bike on Fewins Road in Inland Township at approximately 1:30am Saturday when she was hit by a car driving south on Lake Ann Road, according to the Benzie County Sheriff's Office. The car and bike collided at the intersection of the two roads. The driver, who was not believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, was 64-year-old Kevin Milroy of Grawn. Burch was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Burch's family called her "kindhearted, carefree, and fearless" in her obituary, noting she "loved being outdoors, hiking, going to the beach, and animals." A celebration of life service is planned for Burch Friday at 3pm at the Jowett Family Funeral Home.
