Leelanau Jail Sergeant Sentenced, Suspended for Violating Probation

Sept. 2, 2015

A Leelanau County Corrections Sergeant was sentenced to 10 days in jail in 86th District Court Tuesday for violating his probation. Jeffrey Kassab pleaded guilty to violating the terms of his probation - which stemmed from his arrest and conviction for an OWI offense in November 2013 - after he was accused of submitting altered Alcoholic Anonymous meeting records. AA meeting attendance was a required condition of Kassab's probation.

Kassab has been suspended from his employment with the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office pending an internal investigation of his case.
