Local Brewer To Perform One-Man Play

Jan. 20, 2018

Josh Thomas, production manager at Right Brain Brewery, will step into the spotlight when he stages and performs an original play by British playwright Duncan Macmillan tonight (Saturday, Jan. 20) at Right Brain. Every Brilliant Thing addresses the difficult topic of suicide in a way that is both heart-wrenching and hilarious. The show had a run off Broadway and on HBO this past year, starring British comedian Jonny Donahoe. Thomas introduced Every Brilliant Thing to his hometown of Ludington last month to a sold-out crowd, and the response was extremely positive, with hugs from strangers, tears, and laughter. The play, with a suggested donation of $10, will benefit Third Level Crisis Center, a program of Child and Family Services of Northwestern Michigan, which provides suicide prevention through its 24/7 crisis hotline and trainings throughout the year.

In addition to the performance, Right Brain will be hosting Grand Traverse Art Bomb, with the exhibit of local artists surrounding the stage. The show begins at 8pm with social time both before and after the 70-minute play to both view Art Bomb and meet Thomas. Staff from Third Level Crisis Center will be on hand as well.
