M-72 Resurfacing Project Starts September 18

By Beth Milligan | Sept. 6, 2023

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $1.7 million to resurface 2.5 miles of M-72 from Bugai Road/Gray Road to Bay Street in Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties starting Monday, September 18. The project is expected to last through November 3.

In addition to road resurfacing, the project will also include wider paved shoulders, guardrail upgrades, and drainage improvements. Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic regulators during construction, according to MDOT. The work is intended to improve the driving surface of the road along with safety in the corridor.
