Mengebier to Leave Community Foundation at End of 2025

By Beth Milligan | Nov. 27, 2024

Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation President/CEO Dave Mengebier is planning to step down from his position at the end of 2025, he announced in an email Tuesday.

"I have had nearly seven wonderful years with the Community Foundation and I am grateful to many partners like you for supporting our work creating a healthy, resilient, thriving region for all," he wrote. "My decision to step down as President/CEO of the Community Foundation hasn't been precipitated by anything in particular other than a growing sense that it is time to pass the reins onto another leader, make space for other pursuits, and spend more time with my family. I am proud to be leaving the Foundation in good hands with our strong, engaged board and highly capable staff. The Foundation is in excellent shape in so many ways and is financially stable."

Mengebier said the Foundation's board is "committed to a transparent and equitable process to identify the next President/CEO to support the Foundation. As the Board implements our succession planning policy, more details will become available as the appropriate steps unfold." Mengebier added: "I look forward to working with our board of directors and staff during the next 13 months remaining in my tenure to ensure a smooth leadership transition and to continue advancing the mission and vision of the organization."
