Munson Healthcare Warns Of 'Possible Employment And Financial Scam'

By Craig Manning | Dec. 7, 2024

Munson Healthcare announced Friday that bad actors are using its name and status as a major employer to orchestrate an online scam.

According to a press release, the scam involves someone who is imitating leaders from Munson’s human resources department. Those fraudsters are “offering people false jobs and sending them fraudulent checks to purchase their own equipment.”

To counter the scam attempts, Munson issued a series of facts and warnings about its hiring process. For instance, the only place where a job seeker can apply for “a legitimate job at Munson Healthcare” is through the company’s careers page, munsonhealthcare.org/careers. All communications involving Munson jobs, meanwhile, “will be conducted through official company email addresses which end in @mhc.net.” Munson also assured job seekers that it would “never ask for personal financial information or payment during an application process,” and would always provide equipment directly to any remote employees, rather than asking them to purchase it themselves.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of this particular scam is urged to contact Munson directly, either via email at careers@mhc.net or over the phone at 231-935-3329.
