New Name For Brilliant Books' Service

Downtown Traverse City bookstore Brilliant Books has a new name for its monthly, personalized book selection service – Brilliant Books Monthly.
After receiving a cease and desist order from Bookspan for use of "Book of the Month" Brilliant Books turned to its customers for a new name
More than 1,600 people voted and Brilliant Books Monthly came out on top. The store is now in the process of re-printing all of its materials for the service's new identity.
"We are very glad to have turned lemons into lemonade," says Peter Makin, the store's owner. "We were devastated when we first got the news, but our customers have rallied around and helped us choose a new name that reflects the true nature of the service."
Other names in contention were "The Cease and Desist Book Club" and "Not the Book of the Month Club."
