New Name For Interlochen's Hofbrau?

March 24, 2016

The Hofbrau Steak House & American Grille in Interlochen appears to be on the hunt for a new name. In a recent Facebook posting, the restaurant shared a letter it recently received informing owners that use of the Hofbrau name is a trademark violation of the Hofbrauhaus ("HB") located in Munchen (Munich), Germany. The letter claims the Hofbrau trademark has been in use since "at least as early as 1894." The letter goes on to state that use of the name by the Interlochen establishment is "problematic because it may create the false impression that your services orginate from HB, or that HB is somehow connected or associated with your establisment..."

Rather than fight it, the northern Michigan hangout has taken to Facebook to solicit ideas for a new name. See the ideas submitted so far – and submit your own – here.
