Paddling Film Fest Planned Wednesday at Howe Arena

By Beth Milligan | April 20, 2026

Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation will present the 2026 World Tour Paddling Film Festival at Howe Arena in Traverse City on Wednesday, April 22.

The one-day event is part of an "international adventure film tour presenting the world’s best paddling films of the year – whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, and lifestyle – in more than 120 cities and towns across the United States, Canada, and around the world," according to a county release. The screening runtime is approximately two hours. Audience "can expect a fun, social and entertaining event inspired by compelling films," the release states.

In addition to film showings, the event will include:
> Silent auction with paddling-related items from NRS, Red Leaf Designs, Northstar Canoe, Bending Branches/Aqua Bound Paddles, Werner Paddles, Paddle TC, Wind Dancer, and more.
> Paddling Gear Marketplace facilitated by Paddle Antrim where individuals can bring used items for sale. Those interested in selling items can register online. A donation of 20 percent of the sales proceeds goes to support Paddle Antrim’s mission.
> Paddling and paddling-adjacent partner expo.
> Snack and beverage sales in partnership with Hangry’s, Earthen Ales, and TC Roller Derby.

All proceeds raised through the silent auction and ticket sales will be used toward the purchase and installation of an accessible launch at Medalie Park in 2026. Doors open at 5:30pm and the show begins at 6:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online here.
