By Beth Milligan | May 4, 2019

Commencement ceremonies for Northwestern Michigan College's Class of 2019 will be held today (Saturday) at 2pm in the gymnasium at Traverse City Central High School.

More than 650 students are expected to earn degrees and certificates, with approximately 200 expected to participate in the ceremony. The event will be streamed live starting at 2pm on NMC's YouTube channel and online here.

This year’s student speaker is Emily Perkins, president of the NMC Student Government Association. Math instructor Stephen Drake will give the Commencement address as the 2018 Imogene Wise Faculty Excellence Award recipient. The 2019 Outstanding Alumni award recipients will be named during the ceremony, as will the 2019 winners of the Imogene Wise Faculty Excellence Award and Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award.

NMC University Center partner Ferris State University will award degrees as well. A reception will follow the ceremony in the high school's small gym.
