By Beth Milligan | Nov. 10, 2021

Northwestern Michigan College is inviting the community to attend its annual Veterans Day ceremony this year either in person or virtually, with in-person activities held between the Tanis and Osterlin buildings on NMC’s main campus beginning at 9:30am Thursday. All remarks will be delivered from the flagpole area. A livestream will be available on Zoom here.

The ceremony will include:

> Welcome remarks by NMC President Dr. Nick Nissley
> Student veteran remarks
> Flag raising ceremony presented by the VFW, Post 2780 Honor Guard
> "The Star-Spangled Banner" performed by the Traverse City Central Marching Band
> Three volleys/taps and a rifle salute in honor of the fallen
> Closing remarks by NMC Trustee Doug Bishop

Approximately five percent of NMC students are either veterans or active-duty military. NMC offers services specifically designed for veteran student success, including veteran-specific scholarships and opportunities to convert military service to academic credit.
