North Ed Cancels Summer Cool Tech Camp Due to Facility Maintenance

Feb. 24, 2026

Northwest Education Services (North Ed) Career Tech is announcing that its annual North Ed Cool Tech Camp for students in grades 5-7 is canceled for the 2026 summer session. The cancellation is due to extensive HVAC maintenance and rooftop construction projects scheduled to take place throughout the summer months at North Ed Career Tech’s Parsons Road facility.

The annual camp is a highlight of the summer, providing rising middle schoolers with an introduction to career and technical education programs that are available to juniors and seniors from across the 5-county region. While the camp is an important tool for sparking interest for future North Ed Career Tech students, the scale of the scheduled construction makes it impossible to safely host students in the learning labs, shops and classrooms this summer.

The unique resources that the facility offers would make it incredibly challenging to replicate the camp experience elsewhere. This was a difficult decision that was not taken lightly.

North Ed remains committed to maintaining the integrity and safety of their facilities for all students. Facility upgrades are an investment in the future of regional education programs and services, ensuring that when students are ready to attend North Ed Career Tech programming, they’ll have the best learning environment possible.

North Ed Career Tech, located at 880 Parsons Road in Traverse City, offers 23 state-approved programs to high school juniors and seniors from North Ed’s five-county service area: Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau.
