Panera Bread Moves Step Closer to Traverse City

Feb. 12, 2014

Panera Bread, the popular bakery and café chain, is moving closer to opening its doors in Garfield Township. At its regularly scheduled meeting tonight (Wednesday), the Garfield Township Planning Commission will consider a revision to the special use permit granted to Anchor Properties. The change will add an additional 500 square feet to the building at the corner of Franke Road and U.S. 31, near the Great Wolf Lodge. The project has been in the works for about a year. Construction is expected to begin in the spring, following demolition of the Hertz used car lot at the site. Based in Covington, Kentucky, Anchor Properties specializes in developing commercial properties across the Midwest.
