Pedestrian Bridge Construction to Start July 13

July 2, 2015

Construction on the long-planned $1.1 million Pine Street Pedestrian Bridge - which will connect Front Street to the Warehouse District by a 105-foot span over the Boardman River near J&S Hamburg - is set to begin July 13. Traverse City Light & Power board members Tuesday night approved contributing $226,000 to the project to cover costs related to lighting installation, electrical conduits and the conversion of overhead power lines to underground lines. The board's approval was the final funding step for the project, which is primarily being covered through dollars from the city's TIF 97 fund.
