Pedestrian Critically Injured In Division Street Collision

Oct. 25, 2016

A 31-year-old homeless man who appeared to be extremely intoxicated walked into traffic and suffered critical injuries Sunday evening.

The man was in critical condition and authorities were attempting to find next of kin to notify in the event he doesn’t make it, says Traverse City Police Chief Jeff O’Brien.

The man was struck by a 2003 Pontiac passenger car driven by a 40-year-old Traverse City woman as he attempted to cross Division Street to the east at Thirteenth Street. O’Brien says the woman was not cited for the crash. The victim wore dark clothes and walked into traffic in the dark, at 8:39pm.

“The preliminary investigation looks like he was at fault,” O’Brien says.
